Teaching tools provide a selection of resources for educators in various disciplines to support the integration of ethics and discipline-specific content.

  • Topic-based Modules provide background and report-specific material on topics common to several Bioethics Commission reports to support instructors’ efforts to integrate ethics into their coursework.
  • Case Studies provide professionals and educators with opportunities to explore ethical issues that might arise in the course of their work.
  • Deliberative Scenarios provide educators and students with an introduction to the process of democratic deliberation on topics addressed by the Bioethics Commission.
  • Classroom Discussion Guides provide discussion prompts and questions that instructors at various educational levels can use to integrate ethics into coursework.
  • Empirical Research Resources include datasets that can be used to teach about or conduct empirical research in bioethics and related fields.
  • The Ethically Sound Discussion Guide provides educators, trainers, and facilitators with ready discussion questions built on the Ethically Sound podcast series. This podcast series was developed to review contemporary bioethical topics addressed by the Bioethics Commission.
