Coinciding with the December 2013 release of the Bioethics Commission’s report Anticipate and Communicate: Ethical Management of Incidental and Secondary Findings in the Clinical, Research, and Direct-to-Consumer Contexts, Science magazine has published an essay on incidental findings. Written by Commission Chair Amy Gutmann, Ph.D., the article describes the Commission’s analysis and guidance for the ethical management of incidental and secondary findings in various contexts.
