October 29, 2013

Bioethics Commission Chair Amy Gutmann, Ph.D., engaged a packed house of nearly 900 attendees at the plenary session at the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities 15th Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Ga., October 25, 2013.  During “A Conversation with Amy Gutmann, Chair, Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues,” Gutmann covered issues from the goals of the Bioethics Commission and its deliberatively democratic process to the importance of bioethics education.

“Good policy is based on good advice," Gutmann said. "Quite simply, the Bioethics Commission’s job is to give good advice and that good advice comes from respectful deliberation.”
